Monday, August 15th: Gentle Yoga. Free gentle yoga class for cancer survivors. Space is limited to 6 participants. Please call 264-1431 to reserve your spot. Alaska Regional Hospital Cancer Center, Building C, Suite 414. 4pm-5pm.

Monday, August 15th: The Ah-LAFska Club. This mind-body-spirit program of gentle ‘laughter exercises’ will help motivate your brain chemistry to improve health and healing, based on GOOD HEART LIVING to prevent hardening of the attitudes. Meets every Monday. 5:30pm at Alaska Regional Cancer Care Center, MOB C, Suite 414. Call 264-1431 for more information.
Tuesday, August 16th: Gentle Yoga for Cancer Patients and Survivors. This free yoga class is taught by Margo Sorum, the Adjunct Instructor of yoga at the University of Alaska Anchorage. 1pm – 2pm. Held at Alaska Regional Hospital Cancer Center, Building C, Suite 414. Yoga mats provided. This class has a maximum capacity of 12. Tuesday, August 16th: Gynecologic Cancer Support Group. Let Every Woman Know is offering a regular support group free of charge in a drop-in format. This group is facilitated by a licensed mental health clinician. Please join us! Open to women in all stages of gynecologic cancer diagnosis, treatment, or survivorship. 1st & 3rd Tuesday of each month, 12-1:30pm, Providence Cancer Center Conference Room 2401, 3851 Piper Street, 2nd Floor, Tower U, Anchorage 99508. Tuesday, August 16th: Look Good Feel Better. Look Good Feel Better teaches women how to cope with the appearance-related side effects of treatment. Taught by professional cosmetologists, Look Good Feel Better is open to all women undergoing cancer treatment, and it’s free! 2pm – 4pm, Alaska Native Medical Center, Conference Room 2. Wednesday, August 17th: US Too Guys Coffee and Shmoozing. Join Anchorage’s prostate and testicular support group in sharing, asking questions or just listening. It’s a great time to get to know one another and spend some time with those that probably know a thing or two about what you are going through. Every Wednesday, 10am. Wednesday, August 17th: I Can Cope: Nutrition During Cancer Treatment. The Providence Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society brings you this cooking series. Providence BP Cancer Resource Center Artventure room, 1st floor. 2-3:30pm. 212-6870 to RSVP.
Friday, August 19th: Women LISTEN Support Group. Any woman with any type of cancer is invited to attend. Weekly support group meetings every Friday 10—11:30AM at the Alaska Regional Hospital Cancer Center, Building C, Suite 414. As Needed: Planning Ahead. Learn how to complete advanced directives, power of attorney, comfort one, and other important documents. We will explore the above documents and discuss their importance. Tuesday, August 16th: Coffee with Don. Meet with fellow prostate cancer survivors to go over any new information/resources that have been encountered, talk about how to help anyone who has contacted the Kenai Peninsula Prostate Cancer Support Group and just have fellowship and support. Available to anyone (look for blue PC baseball hats). Every Tuesday at 11am. Kenai Safeway Store in Kenai, AK. 283-9206.

Thursday, August 18th:  Kenai Peninsula Prostate Cancer Support Group. Small group of men whose goal is to increase awareness of prostate cancer issues on the Kenai Peninsula. Everyone welcome to come and meet with prostate cancer survivors for discussions, education and fellowship. Monday, August 15th: Team Survivor Perseverance Walk/Run Program. This walking group focuses on heart rate. Meets on Mondays at 10:00am and Wednesdays at 5:15pm at Diamond Field House (until Spring) to walk indoors. There is also a yoga class on Saturdays at 10:00am. Wednesday, August 17th: Interior Alaska Cancer Support Group. This group concentrates on general support and assistance in dealing with specific cancers.
