 Municipality of Anchorage Area

Tuesday, May 26th: The Tool Box. A cancer support group for individuals newly diagnosed with any type and stage of cancer. Meets the last Tuesday of each month in the Cancer Center at Alaska Regional Hospital. Building C, suite 414. 11am-12pm. For more information, please contact the Cancer Center at 264-1431.

Tuesday, May 26th: Planning Ahead. Learn how to complete advance directives, power of attorney, comfort one, and other important documents. You will explore the above documents and discuss their importance. In addition you will discuss how to be PREPARED for the “unexpected”. Tuesday, May 26th: American Cancer Society Support Group. Weekly support group for cancer patients, survivors, family and caregivers. Every Tuesday, 7-8:30pm at Wells Fargo Bank. 301 W. Northern Lights, second floor conference room. 258-1937.

Wednesday, May 27th: US Too Guys Coffee and Shmoozing. Join Anchorage’s prostate and testicular support group in sharing, asking questions or just listening. It’s a great time to get to know one another and spend some time with those that probably know a thing or two about what you are going through. Every Wednesday, 10am. Café Del Mundo, 341 E. Benson. Wednesday, May 27th: What’s the Stitch? A come-as-you-are, when-you-are-able support group for anyone touched by that “club” no one asks to join: cancer. Come learn a new skill, share your expertise, chat about what ails you, and make new friends! Every Wednesday, 2-4pm. Alaska Regional Hospital Cancer Center, Building C, Suite 414. Thursday, May 28th: The Ah-LAFska Club. This mind-body-spirit program of gentle ‘laughter exercises’ will help motivate your brain chemistry to improve health and healing, based on GOOD HEART LIVING to prevent hardening of the attitudes. Meets the 2nd & last Thursday of each month. 5:30pm at Alaska Regional Cancer Care Center, MOB C, Suite 414. Call 264-1431 for more information.

Friday, May 29thWomen LISTEN Support Group. Any woman with any type of cancer is invited to attend. Weekly support group meetings every Friday 10—11:30AM at the Quilt Tree. All are welcome- Newly Diagnosed to Long Term Survivor. 222-6285, bj4wmnlisten@gmail.com or www.womenlisten.org.

Saturday, May 30th: Yoga Therapy. For cancer caregivers, patients and survivors. Compassionate complementary care for cancer patients and caregivers. Please discuss referral with your doctors, no signed referral is necessary. A release of information between Yoga for Mental Health and your healthcare team may be requested. Billable to insurance for qualified participants. Support group for women with any type of cancer, survivors or currently undergoing treatment who promotes emotional and spiritual well-being. Tuesday, May 26th: Coffee with Don. Meet with fellow prostate cancer survivors to go over any new information/resources that have been encountered, talk about how to help anyone who has contacted the Kenai Peninsula Prostate Cancer Support Group and just have fellowship and support.  Monday, May 18th: Team Survivor Perseverance Walk/Run Program. Monday walking group focuses on heart rate. Meets at 5:30 p.m. each week from Downtown/Valley Juneau Racquet Clubs. Wednesday, May 20th: Interior Alaska Cancer Support Group. This group concentrates on general support and assistance in dealing with specific cancers.
